Humans are vulnerable beings. When we’re alone, but especially when we let other people close. It takes vulnerability to let someone in. And in that process you willingly give the other all the weapons they can use to hurt you, if they so wish.

Some weapons work from afar, some require closer contact. They fit the hand so well. But they might also hurt the one wielding them.
